Baseline monitoring of coastal areas in Ísafjarðardjúp. Grunnvöktun fjöru Ísafjarðardjúps - (pdf - 3,66 MB)
Aquaculture activities in the marine environment (i.e. mariculture) are sources of dissolved Phosphorus (P) and Nitrogen (N) in the water column. This input increases nutrient availability for the macroalgal and epifaunal community in the tidal zones. With this research we aim to obtain a detailed picture of the biodiversity found in the tidal zones of two littoral areas in Ísafjarðardjúp fjord system prior to the implementation of proposed mariculture in the area. Results of this study will allow for the evaluation of the impact that such mariculture activities may have on organisms in the tidal zones of Icelandic fjords.
