Herfugl sást á Ströndum

Herfugl (Upupa epops) sást á Stöndum á milli Krossness og Fells í gær, 22. september. Herfugl er sjaldséður flækingsfugl og sást nú í fornleifaúttekt á svæðinu. Síðast er vitað til að hafi sést til Herfugls á Íslandi í apríl (sjá frétt MBL).

A Hoopoe (Upupa epops) was seen on the shores between Krossnes and Fell yesterday, September 22. The hoopoe is a rare vagrant in Iceland and was spotted during an archaeological survey in the area. The last recorded sighting of a hoopoe in Iceland was in April (see news report in MBL).
